The winter has passed and Kii Yazhi has enlisted in the marines. He finds out they are using his native Navajo language as a code. The Japanese cannot figure it out.

Kii Yazhi is now in high school. He has learned that the military is looking for Navajos that can speak fluently in english and Navajo And wants to join. But he is under age. But Navajos did not have birth certificates. So all he needed was for his parents to tell them he was old enough. So Kii Yazhi went back to his tribe to talk to his parents about joining. They told Kii Yazhi that if there is still a war after one winter has passed, he has there blessing to join. So Kii Yazhi has gone back to school. He thinks he will not be able to join because the war will be over before he has the chance.

Kii Yazhi is in a white school learning english. It is military type school. He is now in high school in a town called Gallup. It is just before WWII

The main character is "Kii Yazhi," a Navajo boy. He is about ten years old and has just left his tribe to go to a white school.

The book I am reading is Code Talker. It is about a boy that wants to enlist to go to war. He is Navajo and his language is used as a code for radio messages. He ends up being used in a top secret task.
